Arsenal fans were impressed with another good performance by Danny Welbeck on Wednesday evening as the Gunners beat Brenford 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium in the Carabao Cup third round.
Welbeck opened the scoring in the fifth minute, heading home a cross by Matteo Guendouzi to give Arsenal the lead.
The 27-year-old then rounded off a superb team goal by the home side in the 37th minute that saw fine interplay and quick passing between Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Alex Iwobi and Nacho Monreal, who set Welbeck up to finish as Arsenal went into the break with a 2-0 lead.
Brentford however did strike back with a goal of their own in the second half, but substitute Alexandre Lacazette made sure of the result in stoppage-time.
The two goals on Wednesday evening took Welbeck’s tally for the season up to four and he also became the first player to score in three different competitions this season, following his Premier League and Europa League goals against West Ham United and Vorskla respectively.
